The Social Security trustees are predicting excess funds will be sufficient until 2042 and
then will only provide 73% of the benefits unless there is an "immediate increase in payroll taxes," "immediate decrease
of benefits," or "some combination of the two." However, the non-partisan Congressional
Budget Office predicts that at the current rate, Social Security will be fine until 2052 and then will be able
to provide 80% of the benefits.
